![]() ![]() There is also a Ghost Forest Warp Gate located within the river, it's found within an alien cache that looks a lot like the entrance to the laboratory. Showing that they enjoyed toying with genetic manipulation and experimentation. It's skeleton can be found further along from the derelict facility, after scanning it you'll find that it died from incredible amount of head trauma, the reasoning behind its attack on the research facility was due to its eggs being kept inside the facility away from the parent.Īnother point of interest is the Lost river laboratory located not far from a huge skeleton surrounded by precursor equipment, this is the point in the game when you discover how technologically advanced the precursors were. The facility is damaged and derelict due to the ferocious attack from a Sea Dragon Leviathan commonly found in the inactive and active lava zones. Notable points of interest are the disease research facility located inside a Cavern with its opening in the junction and mountains corridor. However when you travel deeper into the Lost river you'll find the brine changes colour into a pretty blue, this blue brine is not harmful nor is it acidic, it's found in the Tree Cove. From what we know already this is an acidic brine pool but it's possible it's made of sulphur due to the appearance of sulphur crystals, which only become available once you get deep enough into The Lost River and into the other lower levels such as The Inactive Lava Zone and the Active Lava Lake. The river that flows throughout appears like a green fog covering the base of the biome. The Lost River is composed of seven distinct areas - The Bone Fields, The Corridor, The Ghost Canyon, The Ghost Forest, The Tree Cove, The Junction and The Mountains Corridor. It's best described as a graveyard for Ancient giant creatures that used to prey on the planet, it's also home to a leviathan class creature. It's dark and gloomy but filled with beautiful scenery and fauna. They're impressively loud mating call can be heard across the ocean and it's only louder the closer you get, they are however completely harmless and they even support mini ecosystems along their back making them travelling underwater Islands. The Reefbacks are the most notable despite the blatant presence of The Floaters and the scary presence of the bonesharks most people notice the Reefbacks first. They decorate the islands and keep them afloat with their amazing buoyancy skills. They're absolutely huge, some say that they are the size or even bigger than the size of the one person submarine that you can craft in the game. The Floaters are also incredibly obvious and difficult to ignore. However the more notable fauna is the Bonesharks who dominate the area and they're incredibly hostile, the hardened skin makes them slightly harder to kill which means they also do a little bit more damage than normal. Many common species of creatures can be found in the area such as bladderfish, boomerangs, cave crawlers, Garryfish, hoopfish, peepers, spadefish and shoals of fish. The smaller cave systems in the area also contain drooping stingers which can cause a large amount of pain and damage to health. The more notable fauna are the Crab squids, jelly rays and the warpers. The fauna in the area can be unique but also contains some fauna found in other common areas like boomerangs, Reginalds, spadefish and shoals of fish. ![]() Such as, Ruby, crab squid eggs, diamond, gold, large diamond deposits, Mercury ore, salt deposits and Uraninite Crystals. While it lacks the membrane trees that are in the higher up Grand Reef it just so happens to be abundant in resources. ![]() Warper units created by the precursors who teleport around the planet and also teleport you closer to them so they can inflict damage to you.Īs you can see the area has striking flora such as anchor pods, gel sacks and purple pinecones. The Deep Grand Reef also hides the entrance to The Lost River, along the way you'll have to encounter hostile creatures like crab squids who can emit an EMP wave to knock out all electrical equipment. ![]()
